For decades, the simplistic formula for weight reduction has been: reduced calories equals reduced weight. Simply do the math. If one pound of fat contains 3500 calories, all one needs to do to lose a pound a week is reduce 3500 calories out of your diet. 1 pound a week = 4 pounds a month = 48 pounds a year. Seems simple enough. The inconvenient fact is that the body does not work that way.

healthy lunch, children's lunches, healthy living Posted by: DrPetteruti

In our house we talk with our children about food. The usual, what they like, what they don't, but also about macronutrients. Dr. Stephen Petteruti lays out the facts, and lays to rest a few fallacies, about getting a flu shot.

Does it really make any sense for a perfectly healthy, young person to subject themselves to the discomfort, expense, and potential risk of being immunized against the flu? Frequently in my office a patient will say to me “I haven’t been sick in 10 years, why should I bother?” to which I usually answer “I’ve never been in a head-on collision, but I always buckle my seatbelt.” You just need to run into one bad case of the flu to make you wish you had done more to protect...
